Job Opportunity: Sr & Jr Silviculture Technicians with Forsite Consultants (Kamloops and Salmon Arm)

Term:

 These positions are either permanent full-time, seasonal (late April to November), or summer, subject to applicant qualifications, experience, and availability. Applicants with extensive silviculture experience, or timber development experience, will be considered for permanent full-time positions.

 Junior Technician positions are also open to forestry students that are looking for summer employment.

Role:

 As a Silviculture Technician, you will be responsible for applying your technical skills and knowledge when conducting silviculture projects, including planting implementations, silviculture surveys, treatment area layouts, field assessments, and reporting. During the winter, work activities will shift to either office silviculture projects or timber development, including road and cutblock layout, cruising, and timber recce – subject to project priorities.

Requirements (preferred):

 Direct silviculture work experience – 1 year for Jr Technicians or 3+ years for Sr Technicians;

 Planting supervision and/or planting pay plot experience;

 Silviculture survey experience – silviculture surveyor accreditation would be an asset;

 Diploma or degree in a relevant discipline, or currently enrolled in a post-secondary forestry program;

 Registered with the ABCFP or enrolled as a FIT or TFT;

 Timber development experience would be an asset; and

 Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Candidates should also demonstrate the following qualities:

A passion for forestry;

Motivated, with a strong work ethic, and strong supervisory skills;

Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions;

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;

Good problem solving and decision making skills; and

Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
