Faculty Seminar Series: Modeling Forest Carbon

Research Scientist, Canadian Forest Service
Adjunct Professor, UBC
April 2, 12 – 1 pm | Case room # 2916
Canada is under international obligations to report on the greenhouse gas balance of its managed forests. The Canadian Forest Service is responsible for producing the estimates and report each year.
Come and look into how Canada reports on forest carbon and into the complexities of forest carbon estimation. How do we determine if a forest is a carbon source or sink and why is this important? Finally, what are the avenues we are working on for improving both the science and the estimates of forest carbon modelling at the Canadian Forest Service.
