Term: 8-16 weeks, summer youth position (dependent upon external funding, yet to be received)
Remuneration: $14/hr, 30-35hr/week

Job Description:
The Junction Creek Stewardship Committee is seeking an enthusiastic, reliable, and self-motivated individual to assist with the development and delivery of environmental stewardship activities along Junction Creek. The Environmental Stewardship Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and stewardship team to assist in restoration and research activities throughout the Junction Creek watershed for promoting a healthy waterway and community.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Candidates must be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment.
- Candidates must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (international students are not eligible).
- Candidates must be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Assisting with organizing, planning, and implementation existing and new watershed stewardship projects in the Junction Creek ecosystem.
- Assisting with field work, site monitoring, data collection and entry.
- Planning, organizing, and managing daily assigned work.
- Assisting in coordinating volunteers.
- Assisting with community engagement and outreach at festivals and events, as needed.
Qualifications and skills:
- Field of study related to ecosystem restoration, biology, natural resources, or fish and wildlife technician.
- Experience in fish identification and electrofishing are an asset.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Power Point, etc.), strong computing skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
- Able to work occasional weekends and week day evenings.
- Valid Class G Driver’s Licence with clean driving record an asset.
- First Aid and CPR training an asset
