The Truck Loggers Association Scholarship

Through a gift of $4,500 from the Truck Loggers Association, three $1,500 scholarships are available for students entering first year Forestry at UBC (in the BSF program – either Forest Operations or Forest Resources Management). These scholarships are awarded to students with high academic standing who are worthy and deserving of encouragement and assistance.

Students must be registered in the BSF program – Forest Operations or Forest Resources Management majors. 

Successful candidates for this award will be students who intend to pursue a degree with the Faculty of Forestry and a career in the forestry industry.

Information for Applicants:

  • The applicant must be entering the first year of the BSF degree program in the Faculty of Forestry and correctly follow that program (as assessed by the student’s choice of first year subjects).
  • A 500 word essay detailing the applicant’s interest in forestry is to be submitted with the application and must be in 12 point font.
  • Optional- applicants may wish to include one or more letters of support from teachers, employers, or other community members involved in forestry if they wish to strengthen their application (these are not required).
  • Completed forms must be received by the Faculty of Forestry no later than Friday October 13th, 2017.
  • Successful applicants will be notified directly by the Student Financial Assistance & Awards Office
  • Those who receive the award must also write a summary of work experience and reaffirmation of commitment to forestry after their first summer of work experience to confirm their ongoing commitment to their program of study – this summary is to be submitted to the TLA.
