Position: Field Trip Educator

Location: North Vancouver, BC
Gently Down the Seymour is a field trip program at Seymour River Fish Hatchery and Education Centre in North Vancouver. It is designed to enhance the learning and understanding of students participating in the Salmonids in the Classroom program (Fisheries and Oceans Canada). This field trip provides students and teachers a full-day, hands-on learning experience and the opportunity to observe salmon in their natural habitat as well as in a working salmon hatchery. http://www.seymoursalmon.com
We are seeking Educators to deliver Gently Down the Seymour field trips to visiting classes, grades 2 to 6. Educators will be asked to bring their experience in educational program delivery, knowledge of pacific salmon and coastal forests, and their enthusiasm for facilitating learning experiences that promote discovery and appreciation.
Program Timeline: September 24 – November 1, 2019
Additional programming scheduled for spring 2020
Applicants must:
- Have a background in natural sciences, environmental studies, education, or related field of studies, or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
- Have experience working with children and school groups
- Be willing to complete a Criminal Record check
- Have current First Aid certification
- Have access to a vehicle (Seymour River Hatchery is 12km beyond public transit)
