Consus Management Ltd. is a multi-faceted consulting firm based in Williams Lake and specializes in the implementation and Project Management of various Silviculture programs, Timber Development Activities, Environmental Consulting, and Utilities Contracts. This includes but is not limited to Silviculture Surveys, Site Preparation Supervision, Multi-Phase Timber Development, Environmental Monitoring, Stream Assessments and Program management activities. Consus was established has 2009 and has over 40 years of experience combined in the supervisory staff.
Currently Consus Management Ltd. is seeking a Junior Biologist/Environmental Professional to work in its Applied Biology/Environmental Services division, and in close association with its Forestry Division. The responsibilities for this position are variable and will include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with fish and wildlife surveys in association with Timber Development activities
- Conduct migratory bird and raptor nest surveys
- Riparian feature assessments in relation to Timber Development as well as Utility Construction activities
- Contributing to and preparing of quality technical reports
- Assisting in the management of environmental monitoring projects including oversight of contractors, data analysis and reporting
- Participating in multi-disciplinary teams conducting environmental assessments, field surveys, data collection and Utility Construction projects
- Traveling will be required for this position, and at times this may be to remote locations
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Forestry, Biology or related field
- Eligibility for registration with the ABCFP, CAB-BC or related professional organization an asset but not required
- Broad knowledge of biophysical environment and environmental management procedures
- Able to identify fish, wildlife, and vegetation, and associated protection measures
- Possession of a valid Electrofishing certificate would be an asset
- Experience in environmental monitoring for construction projects and working around heavy equipment would be preferred
- Successful applicants should be physically fit to endure the rigors of field work in all conditions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comprehensive working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised
- Possess a valid BC driver’s license
Employment, role, and wages of the successful applicant will depend on experience and competency. Duties may vary based on current contractual obligations.
