Wood Materials Science
Master’s Degree Programme in Wood Materials Science is a course-based programme that trains experts in production and use of wood for novelty bio-based materials, products and energy. Our graduates find work as technology specialists, researchers, and project managers in development organisations and R&D departments of bio-based industry and energy cluster.
MSc European Forestry Erasmus Mundus

MSc European Forestry is an Erasmus+: Erasmus Mundus programme offered jointly by six leading universities in Europe together with associated partner universities in Canada, China and Brazil and a number of associated scientific and industrial partners around the world. Our programme is an avant-garde response to the needs of the world’s forestry and bioeconomy sectors.
Forestry (CBU), MSc
MSc Forestry is a course-based MSc programme run by a university consortium of Finnish and Russian universities – Cross Border University (CBU). Our graduates are experts in ecologically and socially sustainable use of nature resources, who understand the special features of cross-border cooperation and have cross-cultural understanding.
The special features of MSc European Forestry
-During your studies you will study in at least two European top-quality universities
-Studies include a field course that takes you to Spain, France, Germany, Austria and Romania
-Internship of two months in Austria, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Spain or Romania
-Upon graduation you would receive a double degree certificate (two degree certificates)
-Annual Consortium fee for students coming from partner countries (non-EU countries) is 8 500 EUR and for students coming from programme countries (EU-countries) 4 250 EUR.
-Erasmus Mundus scholarships 34 500 – 48 000 EUR covering the consortium fees and including travel and subsistence contribution and an insurance scheme will be available for the best applicants.
The University of Eastern Finland offers a generous scholarship programme for students who are subject to tuition fees. The scholarship programme has 3 categories:
2-year scholarship that covers the entire tuition fee for 2 academic years.
2-year scholarship that covers 80 % of the tuition fee for 2 academic years.
1-year scholarship for outstanding performance during the 1st study year. The scholarship covers the 2nd year tuition fee.
Furthremore, MSc European Forestry programme offers Erasmus Mundus scholarships up to 48,000 EUR.
