SAAM Student Initiative Fund // Deadline October 18th

SVPRO is excited to announce the pilot of our SAAM Student Initiative Fund.
For Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) 2020, SVPRO is offering funding of up to $500 per initiative for student-led events, projects, and campaigns that contribute to addressing sexual violence and building a culture of consent at UBC.
WHY:
The purpose of the Fund is to support and amplify student leadership in sexual violence prevention, which has a long legacy at UBC.
WHO:
This fund is for individuals or groups of UBC students.  We encourage any interested students to apply, including those who:
·        are new to this subject matter
·        are well-versed in and passionate about social justice theories and want to take action
·        have lots of experience in this area and are looking for a new way to be involved
·        bring perspectives that provide an intersectional approach to prevention.
Note: This fund is not for students who are creating SAAM programming within an existing role on behalf of a UBC unit.  Those students should approach their unit for support on SAAM programming and SVPRO can offer assistance through the SAAM Planning Committee.
WHAT:
Preference will be given to programming that:
·        engages the community through effective or innovative ways to reach either the broader UBC community or a specific student community/club/group
·        creates connections or enhances collaboration by bringing people together around the topics of addressing sexual violence and building a culture of consent
·        brings an intersectional approach to this issue and/or connects with other areas of social justice work
To apply, applicants will need to submit an event/project title, description, and proposed budget.  Examples of allowable expenses include Equipment Rental, Food/Snacks, Printing Costs, Supplies, Materials, etc.
WHEN:
The deadline for the application is October 18, 2019.  All programming will either launch or take place in January 2020.
Applicants are welcome to schedule a consultation appointment before submitting their application by emailing ariana.barer@ubc.ca.
